My possible post graduate studies

Hello, from the last entries you'll see that I'm actually studying biochemistry, and I'm interested in the investigation of different types of diseases in a lab, like the scientist working actually on coronavirus, the principal reason is because I find it a very helpful action, and since I have been in lockdown I appreciate more the work of that people.

For that I have some options, because the education here is very good (at least on the side of "Universidad de Chile" that have prestige and known biochemist on it's side) so it wouldn't be a problem for me to finish my studies in Chile and from that point decide what to do with my life, but from the other side there are some other options like go study outside to another country that have a specialization on an area of my interest or even study from Chile that specialization (that is totally discarded, at least at the moment I won't study online ever), but if I have to choose I think I would like to stay in Chile right now, here I have my family that support me so I can focus on my studies, obviously if I'm older and I don't finish yet I will move out and complement my studies with a temporal job to sustain me but I hope that doesn't happen.

Work on a lab

My ideal job for many years has been work on a laboratory, specifically in the investigation area, I don't know I always idealized that kind of job, using your expertise on certain area to exploit it with the goal of increase the knowledge of the science, but if I could choose I think my investigations would focus on medical objects, analizing viruses, bacteria or venom with the hope of using them in medical purpose to help people, just like the investigators that are right know working on the vaccine for the coronavirus, their job is simply heroic, saving the people lives.

But just as incredible as it sounds it also have a lot of time behind it and the pay may vary because most of the investigations are beeing financed for someone else (university or companies most of the time) so it's very unstable because you are submitted at evaluluation to see if it's worth keep investing in it, and even with that maybe the lab where some special type of bacteria is beeing investigated is in another region or country because there is the only place where it grows, meaning that probably if I want to be part of a team I will need to travel to work on it or even move out to dedicate more time to it, as a homelike person this idea doesn't like me to much, but I think that if the inspiration is there I shouldn't waste it just because I don't want to move from my home or the pay could not be as much as I like, in my opinion there's no excuses for that part.

So taking all of that in mind I think that I should just keep studying my actual career (biochemistry), because is one of the best ways to seek the job I want to at the time I egress from it. Thanks for reading my post once again, hope you all have a good week.

Why biochemistry?

When I started high school I had no idea of what career would be nice to study, because one at that age don't think about it so much (at least in my case), but between 9th-10th grade I started to think more about it, focusing on 2 different options, either a cientific career or a musical career, both seemed to be a good idea but after talking with my friends and family I decided to study a cientific career, specially something focused on chemistry that is my favorite from the 3 main cientific subjects (biology, chemistry and physics).

From that moment I started to investigate careers, but two caught my attention in particular: "Biochemistry" and "Chemistry and Pharmacy", but Biochemistry was the top among them principally because my Chemistry teacher at that momment told me that Biochemistry have a huge labor field, specially in investigation, that is the kind of job that I want to work on.

I studied for the PSU and didn't got the enough amount of points for biochemistry, so I had 3 options: Study another year for the PSU, study Chemistry and Pharmacy (my second option) or enter "Bachillerato", I decided the third one because on the career fair they told me that if I pass the first two years on it I had almost for granted to transfer to biochemistry at the end of it. So here I am finishing my second year to finally transfer to Biochemistry, the career that I want to.

The variety of the seventh art

I love when it's time to talk about movies, I consider myself a bit of a cinephile in that way, but it's hard to think about just one movie, genre or director in particular, because everyone have their thing and a reason to watch it, from action movies to more artistic kind of movies I found enjoyment in many of them, maybe not to much in romantic ones or comedies but even that genres that are the ones that I like the least have a movie or two that I remember catching my attention.

If I would need to think my favorite genres it would be between horror, action and animation, horror movies in first place for the experience of it, the feeling of the adrenaline while I'm so tense that I can't stop looking at the movie is simply wonderful, but I have to say that I don't like the modern horror with all the screamers and high noises, I like the psychological kind of horror from movies like "the ring", the known story about the cursed vhs tape that haunts the protagonist, "lake mungo", a more dramatic type of horror but with some horror touches that make me very uncomfortable, among others, or the ones with more suspense like "the shining", based on the Stephen King's book, "psycho", a psychological approach to a killer or "the blair witch project", a found footage of a group that goes to investigate a witch but they're the ones who ended hunted one by one.

Then there's action movies, when it comes to action movies I would sit to see most of them without problem, because it's more like a distraction, just to relax and enjoy where there's cars exploding, people fighting like martial artist, guns shooting and so, with sometimes an interesting story to follow up, and there I found movies that keep on my mind, like the "terminator" saga,  which have a interesting storyline (the james cameron ones), "saving private Ryan", one of the best bellic movies of all time or "inglorious basterds", the second best movie from Tarantino after "pulp fiction" in my opinion.

At last but not the least there's animation movies, it's complicated naming "animation" as a full genre, because animation is more like a form to express a movie than a type of movie in particular, because from animation you get all of the genres from the "traditional" movies, not only child's movies (not taking away merit from child's movies, there are many pieces of art in child's movies), so if I would need to name my favorite animation movies I could name "spiderman: Into the spider-verse" for the animation, it looks just like a comic and is very loyal to the spiderman universe, or maybe "the nightmare before christmas", which have both an animation beautifully made from the stop motion technique and a soundtrack so well composed that I enjoy every track of it, or even "the end of evangelion", a piece of art coming from the mind of the master Hideaki Anno with the story started from the "evangelion" anime and manga to put an end, with many symbolism from mythology and a psychological charge that won't leave anyone indiferent.

And that's basically all of it, hope you liked the post, bye bye.

Festival of the best

If I have to think about a concert in particular to put on my top of the top it must be the time the time I went to the festival "lollapalooza" more specifically the one celebrated on Santiago on the year 2018, now personally I don't like too much music festivals because the artists are going mostly against the clock to let the next artist play specially if they're not most famous enough, but overall I have to say that this was the one I enjoyed the most, because the quality of the artist that played on stage and furthermore I had the instance of listen to new artists.

Lollapalooza 2018

It began the friday with groups as "Ego kill talent" a brazilian band that I've never listened before but it ended liking me a lot, "sinergia", a chilean band that I found one of the greatest for the originality of the sound of their songs beeing very chilean on their own way, "Los Jaivas", what to say about them, they're majestic on every one of their songs, bringing traditional instruments with them and putting them on beautiful songs that have transcended over the world for its quality and complexity, "Volbeat", a heavy metal band that I haven't listened too many songs but I kinda like their style, but after all this awesome bands the night ended with "Pearl Jam", an incredible band, they are one of the pioneers of the grunge with magnificent songs crowned with the voice of Eddie Vedder, a voice so unique that is recognizable in all of their songs, sadly they didn't play "Black" that is my favorite song of them, but I can't complain.

Pearl Jam en Chile 2018: haciendo historia

Then it came saturday, where presented groups as "santaferia" and "movimiento original", I'm not very used to genres like reggae or cumbia, but in particular I like how they sound, is pretty like a party when they play and all the people on the public seemed very cheerful (maybe many of them for weed, the smell of it was very intense xD), then was the concert of "chancho en piedra", if I said that "sinergia" makes a sound very chilean then "chancho en piedra" are the most chilean band that I've ever listened to, the funk sound of many of their songs and the lyrics of them are simply incredible, not to mention the moshes that formed around the stage that I enjoyed very much, then it came "imagine dragons", personally i didn't like them very much at that moment but I had to go with a friend who is  a huge fan, and finally presented "Red Hot Chili Peppers", this was epic, they played many songs for their repertory and I enjoyed every single one of them, and they seemed like they don't have aged a single day, very energic presentation.

The last day I didn't like it very much, there wasn't any artist of my preference and I only went because some of my friends wanted to see DJ's as "Wiz khalifa" and "DJ snake", I can't say that I didn't enjoy the show but electronic is not my kind of music.

And that was my experience, I enjoyed very much the artists of the festival and I can say that it was unforgettable.

Why Italy is the ideal place for me

Since I was a kid I wondered about places that i watched repeteadly on books, movies, series, etc, things like the Eiffel tower, Pisa tower, the Egypt Pyramids simply looked unreal to me, and for that reason one place in particular always highlights among the others and that is Italy, not only because constructions like Pisa tower previously mentioned, or the colisseum, but the cities and the culture there, just thinking about the Venice canal and carnival or the city of Florence with his structures seem to me like a dream, not to mention the gastronomy of the country that a pasta fan like me would love to taste beeing this country the born place of most of my favorite food.

For that reasons I think of Italy like my ideal place to go touristing, travelling from place to place in a car and stay on a hostel at night just for at the next day keep travelling, without any tour company, for have the enough time to enjoy every place at its most and not beeing pushed to go to the next place.

My biography

My name is Vicente Salinas Cabello, I'm 19 years old, I was born the 16th of october of the year 2000, went to the school instituto alonso de ercilla at the age of 5 to finally graduate in the year 2018, there I've met the most of my friends and studied for the PSU with mention in chemistry, after the results of the test I realized that my score wasn't enough to study what I wanted on the "Universidad de Chile" so I decided to postulate for "Bachillerato" to have the opportunity to study what I wanted after 2 years that it was "Bioquímica", it has been pretty rough, with all the academic load, the inconvenient of having most of the semester late and some problems with the carier dirigents, but it hasn't been all bad, there I've met really nice people included my girlfriend, actually I'm attending the 4th and final semester of the carier to finally transfer to "bioquímica", dealing the best I can with the online classes and the pandemy in general, relying in my close ones either phisically or emotionally to help me stand.
